Seeland USA Inc., doing business as Smart Building Solutions

Last Updated: October 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Seeland USA Inc., doing business as Smart Building Solutions (“Smart Building Solutions,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit smartbuildingsolutions.us (the “Site”), shop with us online or in our showroom, use our online Smart Home Budget Builder or switch designers, request a quote, use our design or training services, or otherwise communicate with us. It also explains the choices and rights you have. This Privacy Policy is part of our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us. This includes:

  • Contact and account information: name, company name, job title, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, and your account login.
  • Order and transaction information: products and services purchased, order history, quotes, returns, warranty claims, and tax-exemption or resale certificates.
  • Project information: plans, drawings, room or site details, photos, and system requirements you share with us for design, programming, quotes, or support.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email, phone, contact form, chat, or social media, and any reviews or feedback.
  • Smart Home Budget Builder: when you ask for the detailed estimate, the contact and project details you enter (project name, name, email, phone, project address, expected start, company, myKNX ID, and whether you would like a trade account), together with your answers and the budget shown to you. If you use “I have more questions,” we receive your question together with the budget on your screen.
  • Switch designers: the setups you create (products, finishes, engraving text and symbols, references, and quantities), a picture of your setup, and the setup PDF, when you add a setup to your cart, request a quote, or order.
  • Trade accounts: the business information you provide when you apply for a trade account.

Information stored only in your browser. The Budget Builder and the designers save your answers, your designs, and your project name in your own browser (local storage), so you can come back and continue. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us unless you submit a form, request a quote, add to cart, or order. You can delete it at any time by clearing the site data for smartbuildingsolutions.us in your browser. Budget PDFs you download are created in your browser.

Payment information. Online card payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe, Inc. Your full card number is entered into and handled by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers on our systems. We receive limited information such as the card type, the last four digits, and the transaction status. If you use a “buy now, pay later” or wallet option offered through Stripe (for example, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, or Affirm, where available), that provider also processes your information under its own privacy policy.

Information collected automatically. When you use the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, products viewed or added to your cart, referring website, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the dates and times of your visits. We collect this through cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies (see Section 4).

Information from others. We may receive information from payment processors, shipping carriers (for example, delivery confirmations), manufacturers and distributors (for example, for warranty claims), business partners and contractors who refer you, and advertising and analytics providers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • process, fulfil, ship, and deliver orders, and handle payments, returns, refunds, and warranty claims;
  • prepare budgets and quotes, answer your questions, and provide design, programming, commissioning, and training services;
  • review trade account applications and show approved trade customers their trade prices;
  • create and manage your account and provide customer support;
  • send order confirmations, shipping notices, and other transactional messages;
  • send marketing emails about products, projects, and events, where permitted (you can opt out at any time);
  • operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site, and understand how visitors use it;
  • measure and improve our advertising, including showing you relevant ads on other websites and social media;
  • detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
  • comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share personal information only as described below:

  • Service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting and maintenance, e-commerce software (WordPress/WooCommerce), payment processing (Stripe), shipping and delivery carriers (such as UPS, FedEx, and USPS), email delivery, online appointment scheduling (FluentBooking, Google Calendar and Google Meet), text message delivery (Twilio), cloud file storage, analytics, and IT support, and our website developer, who maintains the Site under our instructions. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • Manufacturers, distributors, and installers, where needed to fulfil a drop-shipped or special order, process a warranty claim, or support your project, or where you ask us to connect you with an installer.
  • Advertising and analytics partners, such as Google and Meta (Facebook), which collect information through cookies and pixels on the Site as described in Section 4.
  • Professional advisors, such as accountants, auditors, lawyers, and insurers.
  • Legal and safety: when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is needed to protect our rights, property, or safety, or those of our customers or others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business, subject to this Privacy Policy.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

Appointment Booking and Text Messages (SMS)

When you book a showroom visit, consultation, design meeting, technical support call, product question call or a seat at KNX Intro & Coffee on our Site, we collect your name, email address, the time you choose, the notes you add and, if you enter it, your mobile phone number. Bookings are handled by FluentBooking on our own website and added to our Google Calendar; online meetings use Google Meet.

Text messages are optional. When you book, you will see the box “I agree to receive SMS booking confirmations, appointment reminders, and scheduling updates from Smart Building Solutions” directly below the mobile phone field. The box is not ticked in advance. We send text messages about a booking only if you tick that box and enter your mobile number. Entering a phone number alone does not sign you up for text messages, and you can book and receive email confirmations without agreeing to texts. Consent is not a condition of booking or of any purchase.

If you agree, we send text messages about that booking only: a confirmation, reminders before the meeting, and a message if the booking is rescheduled or cancelled. Message frequency varies, usually 1 to 3 messages per booking. Message and data rates may apply. We never use this consent for marketing or promotional text messages. We keep a record of your choice (whether you ticked the box, the date and time, the booking reference and the version of the wording you agreed to).

You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP. After you reply STOP, we send no further text messages to that number, including reminders that were already scheduled. Reply START to receive them again. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at shop@smartbuildingsolutions.us or 702 344 6214.

Text messages are sent through our messaging provider, Twilio Inc. We do not sell, rent or share your mobile phone number or your text message consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Information about your text consent is never shared with third parties, except with the service providers that send the messages for us.

4. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • make the Site work (for example, keeping items in your cart and keeping you signed in);
  • understand how visitors use the Site; and
  • measure and personalize our advertising.

The Site currently uses the following third-party tools:

  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand Site traffic and usage. You can learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

  • Google Calendar and Google Meet, used for appointments. When you choose “Let’s discuss your project” in the Budget Builder or a booking button on our Site, our booking calendar opens on our own website. Your booking is stored on our website and in our Google Calendar, and online meetings take place in Google Meet, which processes your information under Google’s privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
  • Google Fonts, used by some of our designer pages to display fonts. When such a page loads, your browser requests the font from Google, which receives your IP address.

These third parties may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use our Site. You can also limit interest-based advertising through the industry opt-out tools at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org, and through the settings on your device.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. If you block cookies, some parts of the Site, such as the shopping cart and checkout, may not work properly.

Do Not Track. Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is no common industry standard for these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them.

5. Your Choices

  • Marketing emails: you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, or by contacting us. We will still send transactional messages about your orders.
  • Review and correct your information: you can review and update your account information by signing in to “My Account” on the Site. You may also email shop@smartbuildingsolutions.us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. We will verify your identity before acting on a request.
  • Cookies and advertising: see Section 4.

6. Nevada Residents

Nevada law gives Nevada consumers the right to direct an operator not to sell certain covered information that the operator has collected or will collect about them. We do not sell covered information as “sale” is defined under Nevada law (NRS 603A.333). Even so, you may submit a verified opt-out request by emailing shop@smartbuildingsolutions.us with the subject line “Nevada Opt-Out Request.” We will respond within 60 days, as required by law.

7. California and Other U.S. State Residents

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under your state’s privacy laws, which may include the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, to access, correct, or delete it, to opt out of targeted advertising or the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. These laws apply only to businesses that meet certain thresholds. Where a law applies to us, we will honor the rights it grants. To make a request, email shop@smartbuildingsolutions.us with the subject line “Privacy Request.” You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf where the law allows. We will verify your identity before responding.

California “Shine the Light.” California residents may request information about any disclosures of personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption (SSL/TLS) of data transmitted through the Site and use of PCI-compliant payment processing. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your account password confidential. If we learn of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

9. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to fulfil orders, provide warranty support, maintain business and tax records (generally at least seven years for transaction records), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Budget leads and questions are kept as project records for as long as they are useful for your project. Setup pictures from carts that were never ordered are deleted automatically. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for adults and businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Third-Party Websites

The Site may link to third-party websites, manufacturer sites, apps, and social media pages. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one. We encourage you to review them.

12. Visitors Outside the United States

We are based in the United States, and the Site is intended for U.S. users. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last Updated” date above. If we make material changes, we will also provide notice by a prominent notice on the Site or by email before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Site after the effective date means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
